MELAKA, 8 JUNE 2018: The recently opened world-class theatre, ENCORE MELAKA, in IMPRESSION CITY, presented by Yong Tai Berhad, organised its first 3 private shows last weekend and raised nearly RM60,000 in support of the Toh Puan Zurina Foundation — a hemodialysis centre that offers dialysis treatment for low income kidney patients.

“ENCORE MELAKA is more than just a show. It is here to inspire and support communities within Melaka. The Toh Puan Zurina Foundation resonates with my beliefs in giving back — its aim is to cater to patients who are unable to afford treatments that can be costly on a long-term basis. This is our effort to help the centre with its mission; the funds these shows have raised will enable the centre to get the best medication for all its patients,” said Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon, CEO of Yong Tai Berhad and one of the visionaries behind ENCORE MELAKA.

The young students from Melaka government schools each donated RM10 to the dialysis centre to be the first lucky viewers of the grand ENCORE MELAKA performance that is a retelling of famous Melakan tales by critically-acclaimed director, Wang Chaoge (Opening Ceremony 2008 Olympic Games Beijing). The students sat through the 70-minute long show in awe as they learnt about Melaka in a theatrical setting, through a series of colourful dances and melodic songs. A total of 44 schools were invited to catch the spectacular show including SJKC Ayer Keroh, SMK St Francis, Pay Fong High School and SJKC Malim to name a few.

“ENCORE MELAKA and the Toh Puan Zurina Foundation share the same values — we want to help our communities however we can. We are touched and so grateful that ENCORE MELAKA stands for Melaka and its people and that it has given us the support we need. With the funds given, it will help us gain access to the best medications for our patients and help our facilities run to its fullest capacity,” said YBhg. Datuk Hjh Radhuana Binti Salleh, CEO of the Toh Puan Zurina Foundation.

The ENCORE MELAKA Theatre boasts innovative and stunning video projection mapping and multi-stage hydraulic sets, advanced lighting and acoustic techniques. It is Asia’s largest theatre that seats more than 2,000 people on a one-of-a-kind 360-degree rotating audience platform.

The theatre will be open to public from 1 July onwards. It is located in Melaka’s most prominent site, along the city’s waterfront, 3.5km from Jonker Street at No. 1 Jalan KSB, Impression 8, Impression City @ Kota Syahbandar, 75200, Melaka, Malaysia, a new tourism-cultural integrated development from Yong Tai Berhad.

About Toh Puan Zurina Foundation
