JR East Railway Co. unvieled its latest luxury Train Suite Shiki Shima on the 1st of May this year. An exclusive experience limited to 34 guests should the train be in full capacity. Despite being one of the most expensive excursion in the world, it is already sold out till March 2018.
Born of the concept of “Shin-Yu Tan-Bo” or Journeys to Discover Hidden Depths, the golden “Train Suite Shiki Shima” wishes to bring to its guests an experience with profound depth for every new season and journey, there is always something new to explore.
The journey begins from Ueno station, Tokyo exploring the region towards Noboribetsu station, Hokkaido and back on a different route. Traveling at a maximum speed of 110 km/h, it gives guests the time to enjoy the magnificent view from the other side of Japan. Through it railways, by passing the inner lands where some roads do not traverse.
The train is made up of 10 car-trains, built with two glass observatory for the prime view on each end of the train. It has a Dining Room and a Lounge for guests to mingle or relax with a drink. For accommodations it has only five Suite Rooms, one Deluxe Suite Room and one Shiki-Shima Suite Room. Hence the ticket going at a minimum 320,000 yen per person based on twin sharing basis up to the premium at 950,000 yen per person based on twin sharing, is at such for its exclusivity. A selection of trips ranging from 2 days 1 night up to 5 days 4 nights are available to choose from.
Designed by Ken Okuyama, celebrated for his work on Ferrari Enzo, Maserati, Porsche and a few other models. Luxurious from its interior with its gilded gold design along the white walls, Japanese aesthetics meets modern design can be seen throughout.
Each meal is prepared accordingly to its season and location of travels, truly a gastronomy experience, the menu prepared by Michelin star chef Katsuhiro Nakamura and Hitoshi Iwasaki.
Well I guess it is time to enjoy a bit of life once in awhile ….. but first the luxury experience do not present itself instantly. You have to quickly put in your bookings. If not be, it might be in 2019 or 2020 comes your turn if you procrastinate longer …….
