(10 August,Kuala Lumpur) It was a pleasure to be able to arrange and host the discussion at Wisma Apple between MAS Chartered flights team and Jumbo Tours Co.Ltd, followed with a MOU this morning.
MAS Head, Commercial Project Hope En Yazid Mohamed, MAS Head, Flight Operations Project Hope Dato’ Captain Zulkifly Zainal Abidin and MAS Head, Technical Training Project Hope Captain Shahrom Basri has met Apple Group Managing Director Dato’ Sri Koh Yock Heng (Koh San) together with Jumbo Tours Co.Ltd. CEO President Mr. Tanimura Shoki for a MOU and some discussions. They are joined by Apple Group Chief Operating Officer Mr. Bernard Woo.
The main discussion is towards the betterment of chartered direct flight schedules to and from Okinawa and also on future possibilities on new routes. Judging from ongoing discussion, Malaysia Airlines Berhad is embarking on a positive and exciting outlook in 2018 under ‘Project Hope’,a new chartered arm of Malaysia Aviation Group Berhad (MAG) which will be managing the Airbus A380 fleet.
En Yazid has mentioned, having established a ‘strategic partnership’ with Apple Vacations seven years ago and is looking forward in future on working towards more flights to the Europe and US with the group. Koh san mentioned that with MAS as a strategic partner and working with Jumbo Tours hand in hand, will be looking forward for the next Okinawa chartered flights. Besides this, Apple Group has reached its 21st Year Anniversary this year, we have come far with arranging direct chartered flights to Hokkaido since 2010 and has continued until today, end of last year was to Bhutan and this year Okinawa. Apple Vacations have kicked off its maiden chartered flight packages to Okinawa this year and response has been positive and is selling fast. Mr. Tanimura Shoki also do look forward to the good co-operation from both MAS and Apple as they continue to explore.
Mr. Tanimura Shoki has mentioned that Okinawa is a tropical island, with many attractions unique unto Okinawa Island. For example the Churaumi Aquarium, one of the world largest aquarium. Famously known to the world as the ‘Oriental Hawaii” despite being part of Japan, due to it’s self-contained climate and culture, marine species, tropical jungle and a unique blend of hybrid culture between traditional Japanese and American. That is what sets it apart and makes the Okinawa atmosphere so different.

Churaumi Aquarium is located at is located within the Ocean Expo Park. Known as the world’s first largest aquarium, it is the first to host a Whale Shark species. Crediting to its thickness of the glass and it is the first aquarium to have successfully breed a large collection of coral, artificially which can be described with a stark similarity to Okinawa’s seabed. Next to the aquarium there is an outdoor amphitheater for dolphins show! A must watch!
