If this is your first time to Dubai, prepared to be amazed at how the people of Dubai thrive despite the harsh environment coupled with the ability to turn the land into a living modern paradise.

Who would have thought in the middle of a hot desert land, an oasis city in every sense can emerge with an array of spice markets, the gold souks, the 7-Star yacht shaped Burj Al Arab hotel, Palm Jumeirah,a world class open-air aquarium and not forgetting to mention the world’s largest indoor ski park!

One : Dubai has Gold? Deira Gold Souk

One among the streets of Dubai, lies the legendary Gold Souk or Gold Street!

This street does not stretch far and wide, but it’s fame does! Known worldwide as the third largest trading centre for gold trading, it is famous for the gold design and carving which is said to be one of the finest and most beautiful, a must visit!

There are many visitors flowing through this Gold souk, not necessarily purchasing the gold here, but to admire the the amount of gold jewelry ammased at one place! Seeing the shine reflected in the eyes of the visitors!

Jokes aside:
1: Someone joked that Dubaian’s buy gold as if just like buying cabbage!
2: The artists design on gold is so fine and beautiful that it is hard to resist, one will stop and admire the gold even though buying gold was not in the agenda.

Two : Dubai Miracle Garden

There used to be a joke among friends for people who live in Dubai saying something like this,”Well if you are certain this thing can be accomplished, the desert will blossom!”.

Obviously meant as a sarcasm or scepticism whichever one it is. Now, these words cannot be spoken lightly as a sarcastic joke or otherwise you have got to “eat your words”!

Bizarre Dubai has once again proven herself. For what is the difficulty of calling on blooms in desert? On valentine’s day in 2013, the miracle litterally took place and a “Miracle Garden” has been built! In April 2015, the garden was awarded the Moselle Award for New Garden Experiences of the year by the Garden Tourism Award 2015.

With over 70 varieties of flowers, it is the largest display of flowers in Dubai, amazingly more than 45 million flower blooming in the park covering 72,000 square meter covering the promenade which will be featured in the Guinness Book of Records. Opening hours are from 9am to 9pm daily, running through from October to April each year.

With the flying dessert dust, the colourful flowers which decorates the green gardens, the Dubai Miracle Gardens attracts approximately 55,000 visitors each week both local and international. The garden itself has been created with a theme yearly using the flowers of course, with such a huge playground for horticulturist and designers to build, the visitors will find themselves strolling through a variety of different shapes and sizes, Some are styled in shapes resembling stars, hearts or even circles. The green soothes the eyes where as the display of the colorful flowers shocks the senses.

Three: The Lost Chambers Aquarium

 

The Lost Chambers Aquarium at The Palm has been built to resemble the lost city of Atlantis.

Just like it’s origin, the aquarium has been re-imagined and brought to live, showing the mystery of this legendary country. The nooks and cranny’s that has been created and decorated with the hidden treasure’s will transport you through the underwater world of Atlantis as you step into the jaw-dropping glass tunnels.

Are you afraid of the dark? There are 10 chambers to be explored hosting as many as 65,000 kinds of marine life, don’t be afraid! They will keep you company throughout your journey!

Four: Desert Safari Dubai

Having grouped in groups, we are ready to be picked up by the 4×4 “monster” that would eat the sand of the desert safari, a wild adventure where we enjoy miles and miles of sand in the Desert city of Dubai, feel the heat and gaze upon the beauty of Dubai’s desert!

Later in the evening we will be treated to enjoy a sunset dinner of barbecue at a expertly set-up camp here in the middle of the desert, but before the Dubai barbecue, there are more activities for you to explore such as riding camels, put on a traditional bedouin dress or even try out the hookah etc.

Dinner is served and at the same time our night continues wild just like the desert with the traditional skillful belly-dancers! Keeping the temperature up as the celebration continues ……

Five: The world’s tallest building – Burj Khalifa

Known as the tallest building in the world, if one is given the chance to set foot on Dubai, you must make your way all the way up this tower! For how can one miss this tall beauty?

Upon it’s official completion in January 2010, Burj Khalifa is announced as the tallest building in the world today, with 160 floors and a height of a staggering 828 meters!

Within the tower, it has been designed by award winning designers for spacious and luxurious living spaces as well as offices, there are 900 private residences, 160 rooms of the top Armani Hotel Dubai can be found within the tower, from the top of Burj Khalifa, one can look down through the “Glass Floor” to the bottom and enjoy the uninterrupted view of the world’s largest music fountain, the bejeweled night view lit up by the lights is must as they captivate your heart!

Fact: The Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has established 3 criteria to determine what makes a tall building tall. Burj Khalifa wins by far in all three categories.
